Duties and responsibilities
Climate change and sustainability strategies
⢠Develop, maintain, and implement the Sustainability Framework and other relevant plans, policies, and legislation.
⢠Develop, maintain, and implement the Corporate Sustainability Action Plan.
⢠Establish strategic priorities to embed sustainability across the organisationâs operations in areas including:
- Built form
- Open spaces
- Fleet and fuel
- Scheme and ground water
- Waste management.
⢠Provide advice, recommendations, and support to all service areas to foster a culture of sustainable best practice.
⢠Provide technical advice and support to the Manager Parks, Waste & Natural Environment regarding emerging sustainable waste management technologies and practices.
⢠Integrate sustainability into Strategic Corporate Projects in accordance with adopted project management plans.
⢠Implement strategic climate change and sustainability projects as directed by Council, the Climate Change Adaptation and Sustainability Committee, Executive Management, and outlined in strategic plans.
⢠Manage projects in accordance with adopted project management framework(s) and project management systems to achieve agreed outcomes.
⢠Provide liaison and support to develop and implement projects to support sustainability initiatives in the community.
Climate change and sustainability representation and reporting
⢠Provide executive support to the Climate Change Adaptation and Sustainability Committee, and the Capel Coast Sub Committee.
⢠Prepare reports detailing progress against targets and objectives.
⢠Prepare statistical reports and information as required.
⢠Coordinate the renewal of the Shire of Capel Waterwise Accreditation.
⢠Coordinate meetings as required.
General Duties
⢠Support the Projects, Facilities and Assets team, and wider organisation through positive team participation and by assisting when required with workload, providing backup, or advice in areas of expertise.
⢠Contribute to the continuous improvement of Projects, Facilities and Assets by assisting in the ongoing review and updating of information including policies, procedures, information sheets and processes.
⢠Contribute to the development and management of the Sustainability budget and relevant grant funded projects in consultation with the Manager, Executive Management and Finance.
⢠Prepare grant funding applications, arrange process for receipt of grant income and produce grant acquittals, in consultation with Finance.
⢠Attend Council and other meetings, seminars and working groups as required.
⢠Supervise contractors, volunteers and others as required.
⢠Any other tasks determined as appropriate to the position.

Risk management
⢠Contribute to the development and implementation of Risk Management strategies in accordance with Council policy and Risk Management plans to reduce liability in all areas of risk.

⢠Ensure actions and decisions are impartial
