The Senior System Administrator will work as part of the team. The team provides the development, support, sys admin and database administration services for the system, a government critical system which supports the transport licencing and registration functions of the Government and performs over 500,000 citizen focused transactions annually. This position will provide, as part of the team which works closely with the business operations, DevOps, system administration, configuration, and database support for the development and running of the business application.
About the role
As the Senior System Administrator/DevOps/Oracle DBA, will support a range of activities which may include:
- Maintaining system environment and associated DevOps including run and maintain the associated build pipelines in the Azure DevOps platform.
- Monitoring and maintaining system performance, batch processing and external interfaces to ensure continued operational efficiency (this includes database administration support activities such as system maintenance and downtime logs).
- Managing level 1 UNIX administration including the development and maintenance of UNIX shell scripts and monitoring of business processes.
- Supporting testers to run batch jobs.
- Support DBA activities
- Provide consultation support to Modernisation including but not limited to DevOps process, cloud hosting options and report database.
Skills or Knowledge required:
- Azure DevOps Build and release pipelines and work item management
- UNIX administration including writing and maintaining bash scripts
- Application Infrastructure software including JBOSS, Apache Tomcat and NginX
- Comprehensive knowledge of enterprise Java application infrastructure, application, and business architecture.
- Experience working with Oracle Databases
Position Requirements
- A current CMTEDD issued Personnel Vetting Program certificate/clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain such a certificate/clearance is mandatory.
