AGENCY OVERVIEW
InforMH is a team of the System Information and Analytics Branch (SIA), NSW Ministry of Health (MoH). InforMH supports NSW Health functions of planning and monitoring mental health services, and directly supports Local Health Districts / Specialty Health Networks (LHDs/SHNs) in using data to improve care. InforMH is responsible for data development, collection, analysis and reporting for NSW public mental health services, and the analysis and reporting of data from the NSW Suicide Monitoring System (SuMS).
InforMH has five streams:
- Clinical Measurement and Benchmarking
- Information Management and Policy
- Performance Analysis and Reporting
- Operations and Projects
- Suicide Monitoring and Reporting

About the Role
The Senior Systems and Development Officer is a position within the Information Management and Policy stream. This stream supports the mental health data collections, including provision of data specifications, and support for source system developers including the provision of technical support, analysis and implementation expertise in delivering those Systems and reporting from them. It monitors data quality and ensures compliance with data standards and policy and provides data to the Commonwealth as part of the National Minimum Data Sets (NMDS). It provides a comprehensive infrastructure support function including database, automated reporting, and support for data visualisation platforms for InforMH.
The role is responsible for:
- Designing, developing, and maintaining databases and environments to support a range of Mental Health specific collections and reporting processes managed by InforMH.
- Developing automated reporting for existing, evolving, and new collections.
- Building and maintaining SQL databases for a range of data visualisation applications.
- Establishing and maintaining data visualisation platforms for InforMH.

Selection Criteria

- Demonstrated experience in developing, maintaining, and administrating SQL Server and Microsoft Access databases and skills in VBA scripting.
- Demonstrated experience in developing reports using a variety of tools such as MS Access, SQL, SAS, Qlik, Power BI to meet business requirements.
- Demonstrated experience in web development including ASP.NET, C# and Javascript.
- Demonstrated experience in analysing data with respect to data integrity, and demonstrated analytical, diagnostic and technical skills to support data quality and compliance.
- Demonstrated experience and expertise in the provision of helpdesk assistance in respect to information systems, including high level written and verbal communication skills, and experience in handling confidential or sensitive data matters.
- Demonstrated ability to display initiative, capacity to multitask, meet deadlines and prioritise work in a high volume work area.
- Appropriate tertiary qualifications and/or demonstrated, equivalent, relevant industry experience.

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course (2 doses) of a Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine (except for the Janssen COVID-19 vaccine which is approved by the TGA as a single dose primary course). New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.
Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
