Your new role
The Engineering team is a matrix of functional groups, reporting to discipline team leads who in turn report to the Chief Operating Officer. Engineers and other technical specialists are assigned to projects where their daily work is planned and managed by technical project leads and the system engineer. Functional managers provide guidance, mentoring, assistance with resourcing, technical oversight and review, along with professional development.
This structure enables a supportive learning environment where team members are working together and developing new skills, whilst delivering technical solutions appropriate for the business. Responsibilities will include:
- Determining, implementing and monitoring the direction of system engineering in projects though development and application of the system engineering management plan.
- Remaining customer focused – developing the usability and product validation method. Driving customer validation and engagement within the technical program.
- Planning and guiding the delivery of high quality, compliant commercial systems solutions.
- Deriving product architecture and system level requirements.
- Being the glue across mechanical, electronic and software interfaces.
- Owning the Risk Management Plan, product hazard risk assessment, FMEA and verification traceability of requirements.
- Planning and implementing test plans for functional test and reliability.
- Relationship management and technical program guidance to external design partners and suppliers.
- Generation of design documents for regulatory submissions.
- Input to development program project schedules and budgets.
- Ensuring engineering standards of quality, cost, safety, timeliness and performance are observed.
- Adherence and improvements to the Micro-X quality system.
- Liaising with customers, manufacturing and other stakeholders to drive customer centric solutions.
- Configuration management of design outputs, change management process adherence.
- Liaising with customers, marketing, manufacturing and other stakeholders to drive customer centric solutions.
- Growing the Micro-X culture.
- Brand and advocacy for Micro-X and NEX technology.
What you’ll need to succeed
To be considered for this role, you will have:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering equivalent suitable for membership of Engineers Australia.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Systems Engineering.
- Understanding of Systems Engineering principles and lifecycle management.
- Experience developing and executing against Systems Engineering artefacts including Systems Engineering Management Plan and Verification and Validation Plan.
- Experience in technical problem solving.
- Experience in soliciting, analysing and communicating customer requirements in a cross-disciplinary technical environment.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with personnel at different levels and from various disciplines.
- Ability to contribute and work in a cross-functional team.
The below will be highly regarded:
- Experience in risk management including FMEA and PHRA.
- Experience in the development of medical devices.
