Job Overview:
The Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist is responsible for providing overall recruiting; sourcing and compliance efforts by administering and deploying the recruiting process for all Australia based positions with primary responsibility being Finance and Accounting. This role will support recruiting for other functions such as Project Controls, IT, HR etc. as required.
The Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist will be accountable for building successful relationships with the hiring managers and all recruiting activities including sourcing, screening, interviewing, selecting, and hiring the best available candidates using proven recruiting methods and processes to ensure the success of our talent and overall business.
Responsible for all steps associated with the sourcing and selection of external qualified candidates. The ability to develop strong communication channels with external candidates and a variety of internal / external clients and department managers over multiple business lines is crucial for success. Must be highly adaptable and be able to manage a requisition load that is cyclical and fast paced.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Research, source (using referrals, data mining and internet resources), evaluate resumes, conduct screening interviews to qualify candidates and present candidates to hiring managers.
- Develop and implement sourcing strategies for current and projected hiring needs.
- Partner with hiring managers to understand lines of business and hiring needs.
- Partner with HR to provide best practices and customer service to hiring community.
- Will be responsible for staffing related metrics which are reviewed per business line.
- May coach less experienced team members.
- Wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
- Determines or is provided with staffing needs of one or more clients and identifies, engages and recruits qualified candidates from the candidate pipeline.
- Analyzes client requirements and qualifies candidates by conducting telephone and/or face-to-face interviews according to identified qualification standards.
- Selects candidates using discretion and independent judgment, prepares, and delivers candidate presentations for clients.
- Enters and tracks candidate data in various electronic systems and runs standard reports as required.
- Maintains effective, ongoing relationships with candidates throughout the full life-cycle of recruitment, in addition to candidates who are in between assignments.
- Fields general, straight forward to moderately complex inquiries from candidates and hiring managers; escalates inquiries to senior team members and/or management as necessary.
- Assists with coordinating logistics for recruiting events, such as job fairs, open houses, and invitation-only events.
- Identifies areas of potential optimization and shares with management.
- Collaborates with team members to develop and maintain a unified approach to talent sourcing and recruitment.
- Proactively establishes and maintains beneficial business relationships through networking with industry contacts, association members, trade groups, employment groups and/or social media.
- Initiates requisitions and/or assist with facilitating appropriate approvals for requisitions.
- Schedules candidates for telephone and/or face-to-face interviews and orientations.
- May assist in administering pre-employment activities, including, but not limited to, coordinating forms, applications, offer letters and expense reports, drug testing, background and reference checks, and security clearance validation.
- Coordinates the preparation of and/or assist with the distribution of new hire informational packets.
- Trains and provide guidance on industry best practices to less experienced team members.
- Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
- Has and will maintain accountability of the entire recruiting process as defined by McDermott Leadership.
- Interfaces with the Hiring Managers, Human Resources and other key stakeholders to ensure client satisfaction.
- Consults with hiring manager and follows processes to achieve SLAs/metrics.
- Leads initial consultations or strategic meeting with hiring managers on requisition definition and potential sourcing strategies.
- Conducts external searches through strategic sourcing (networking, cold-calling, job board utilization, etc.).
- Develops and implements sourcing strategies including advanced internet mining techniques.
- Assists Junior level staff in the team and train where required.
- Participate in Global projects when required.
- Develops and maintains extensive and effective networks within professional associations and within the community to ensure a continuous flow of candidates
- Identifies and researches new innovative and creative sourcing methods
- Utilizes online social and professional networking sites to connect with potential passive candidates
- Develops and maintains a high volume of referrals and a strong candidate pipeline
- Effectively manages the internal applicant process
- Continuously "closes" qualified candidates and works to drive offer acceptance
- Leads the candidate through the hiring process to ensure a positive experience.
- Screens, presents and "sells" qualified candidates to hiring managers.
- Manages hiring managers' expectations appropriately.
- Leads and/or participates in sourcing projects; builds networks across all channels.
- Executes accurate data capture and timely reporting on key staffing metrics.
- Utilizes the Applicant Tracking System (ATS) to identify potential candidates and ensures appropriate usage of the Global Resourcing Center.
- Maintains understanding and execution of diversity and quality requirements.
- Ensures compliance with legal and client regulations during identification and screening process.
- Interview potential candidates using industry-standard techniques.
- Schedule Interviews with candidates and clients and have constant contact to manage them through the new hire process including making offers.
Essential Qualifications and Education:
- 8 - 10 years' professional and technical recruiting experience in a staffing agency or corporate environment.
- Minimum 5 years' experience working with applicant tracking systems.
- Bachelor's degree and/or relevant industry recruiting experience.
- Ability to work in a high stress fast paced environment.
- Proven ability to develop long term business relationships with candidates and managers.
- Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.
- Able to apply knowledge and skills to a wide range of standard and nonstandard situations.
- Ability to use creative and analytical thinking for problem solving.
- Uses best practices and knowledge of internal/external business issues to improve service to hiring community.
- Proactively searches for additional training for self-development to remain current in respective field.
- Extensive functional, business, industry and leadership expertise.
- Must have successful recruiting experience specifically in the in the Houston market primarily focusing on Finance and Accounting.
- Must have experience building good relationships with focus on strategic Talent Acquisition and must be in a position to make recommendations and assist Hiring Managers in making decisions.
- Demonstrates expertise in generating talent through networking and creative sourcing methods.
- Demonstrates solid business knowledge in multiple industries; including niche areas where appropriate.
- Knowledgeable of applicable Australia employment laws.
- Must be proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Must have experience in the Oil & Gas industry, recruiting a variety of positions.
- Must possess exceptional organizational, time management, administrative and customer service skills.
- Must be able to work in a fast paced, intense work environment and adapt to constant changes and competing priorities.
- Demonstrates the ability to work with challenging and demanding clients and adapt to changes.
- Must have a strong commitment to quality and ethical behavior and maintain high level of confidentiality.
- The ideal candidate will be comfortable sourcing candidates on their own, using various methods and tools which include the company career web site, Internet job boards, associations, university alumni resources as well as using research and cold-calling prospects.
- The ideal candidate will be comfortable and laser-focused to deliver the expected talent, in a reasonable and expected time frame without using outside agencies.
- Effectively utilizes strong communication, interpersonal, presentation, consultative and negotiation skills.
- Identifies and resolves potential challenges and risks then engages in proper escalation procedure.
- Effectively builds rapport with applicants and other internal team members.
- Drives results in a positive and professional manner in a deadline-oriented environment.
- Work with outside clients to identify new talent for their recruiting needs.
- Identify new clients and manage and buildout these accounts.
- Review and analyze resumes using our in-house ATS software program.
- Scour job search tools provided for potential recruits and contact those candidates personally.
- Serve as a client advocate for new hires as well as established contractors.
- Maintain key competencies associated with the staffing and recruiting industry.
- Be customer driven.
- Quick learner, independent and resourceful.
Preferred Qualifications and Education:
- Operational experience with at least one Applicant Tracking System preferred.
- Mixture of recruiting agency and in house recruiting experience is preferred.
