aleksandar. have been appointed to manage a recruitment process on behalf of a leading established retail and consumer products business to identify a Senior Tax Advisor in Brisbane, Australia. This is an excellent opportunity to join an established market leader in a critical role and form part of the broader finance and tax leadership team.
Reporting to the Group Tax Manager, the role will be responsible for leading tax technical initiatives across all business units and joint ventures. This will involve a high degree of tax technical research in project delivery and a solid understanding of the commercial profit drivers of the business. The role will also encompass providing timely and effective tax advice across several business-critical projects and process/systems improvements.
Your success in this role will heavily rely on your substantial experience in corporate tax. You should possess a strong knowledge and understanding of taxation risk and regulatory requirements, cultivated at a Big4 or mid-tier accounting firm, and best practices within the retail and consumer products industry. In return, this position will offer excellent in-house tax technical exposure within a large corporate. There is also quality international advisory work in the tax function as a whole and considerable exposure to senior executives within the wider business.Candidates we are interested to speak with must have the ability to:
- Prepare and review various tax compliance matters across the group including corporate income tax returns, international taxes and employment taxes.
- Manage internal tax compliance through monitoring of tax legislative changes, including communication of these changes to the appropriate stakeholders.
- Lead the transactional analysis and management of tax sensitive accounts.
- Provide tax advice regarding corporate income tax and GST matters.
- Liaise and consult with business units and commercial managers Tax Advisory projects, providing research and knowledge for tax savings and optimisation opportunities.
- Identify new tax legislative changes and understand their impact on the business.
- Develop new and efficient tax processes/procedures and promote tax and its importance as a priority within the business across the wider company.
- Manage external relationships with the ATO.
- Currently at Tax Manager level at a big4 accounting firm/mid-tier accounting firm.
- Degree qualified in accounting, commerce or law.
- Professional membership with CA or CPA.
- Experience with tax consolidated groups and strong knowledge of Australian tax law, predominantly across corporate income tax.
- Strong tax effect accounting experience.
- Professional, committed with excellent communications skills.
- A commercial mind-set with the ability to analyse and glean insights from data.
- Strong Excel and tax software experience.
