  • Permanent full-time opportunity plus temporary role up to 31 December 2024
  • Flexible Working Arrangement allowing remote location anywhere in NSW
  • Salary range of $120,859 to $133,183 plus super and leave loading
  • Opportunity for a Senior Technical Advisor with water treatment experience to join a highly experienced specialist Technical Advisory and Training team, within the Water Group of Department of Climate Change, Energy, Environment and Water, undertaking a wide range of water utilities projects across NSW.

    The Senior Technical Advisor provides technical advice to local water utilities (LWUs) across NSW of the technical aspects of water, sewage, and recycled water treatment plants, working in partnership with customers and stakeholders in order to achieve great outcomes for the community. The role provides input and technical review to inform the approval of proposed works, provides technical advice on the operation of treatment systems, and assists in the delivery of technical content of training programs for LWUs and peak industry groups within the LWU operation.

    For this role, we are able to offer a Flexible Working Arrangement including working from a choice of office locations around NSW, working remotely and an opportunity to travel throughout regional NSW to support project teams and stakeholders, including councils.

    About You

    To be successful in the role, you will have:

    • Experience in managing complex and sensitive consultations with diverse stakeholders, within agreed timeframes, given their varying expectations, viewpoints, capability, and interests.
    • Experience in maintaining knowledge of current legislative, policy and process requirements relating to treatment of water, recycled Water and sewage.
    • Demonstrated ability to actively participate in multi-disciplinary teams and achieve multiple project objectives, given limited resources and tight timeframes, the need to identify project inter-dependencies and balance competing demands and priorities.
    • Qualifications in Chemical and/or Process Engineering or similar would be of benefit, as well as demonstrated experience in drinking water treatment process design and operation.
