Job description

The Organisation

Airservices Australia is a government-owned organisation responsible for the safe and efficient management of 11% of the world’s airspace and provision of aviation rescue fire fighting services at Australia’s busiest airports.

Our people are our greatest asset with a dynamic and diverse team operating from locations across the country - from bustling cities to regional and remote locations, including an island. This team keep Australia’s aviation industry safe every day of the year, both in the air and on the ground.

We connect people with their world safely – linking family and friends, generating economic activity, creating jobs, and facilitating trade and tourism.

Airservices is committed to fostering a culture that is diverse, inclusive, and respectful. We encourage motivated individuals who love what they do, value a service first mindset and embrace a challenge to explore a career with Airservices. In return you will be a valued team member, be offered flexibility and experience a meaningful career in an exciting, ever-evolving aviation industry.

The Role & The Team

The WSIA Technical Transition Manager holds several complimentary roles including: transition and integration planning and process definition; transition and integration document review, revision, and eventual endorsement; and coordinating a variety of internal and external stakeholders to ensure an effective test and commissioning.

The Technical Transition Manager executes these roles as the technical counterpart to the WSIA Operations Transition Manager: together, they ensure that Airservices processes and standards are met; that Airservices and national standards and regulations are met, that the Aerodrome systems are integrated with connected internal and external systems; and that Program-external stakeholders are advised and consulted every step of the way.

In particular, the Technical Transition Manager is the Program-side face of the Technical Transition: they coordinate extensively with their lifecycle sustainment counterparts to ensure a timely and successful transition to operations.

In this role you will:

  • Identify, track, and manage delivery, review, and acceptance of the artefacts and events required for commissioning and transitioning to service of the Aerodrome systems
  • Coordinate with program vendors to ensure the integration of all systems with connected Airservices systems and with external systems at Canberra and Western Sydney airports
  • Manage the delivery, review, and acceptance of vendor-produced internal system architecture and the integration of DAS and Airfield Systems architectures into the Airservices Enterprise Architecture (EA)
  • Track the status of planned changes and upgrades to connected Airservices systems and external systems; advise these changes to the technical and program management
  • Be jointly responsible for the production, review, and endorsement for approval of various projects and planning
  • Coordinate – along with the Test Manager – the Airservices human, equipment, and facilities resources for test campaigns, both vendor-based (contractual) and Airservices-internal (e.g. User Acceptance Testing)
  • Lead Technical Transition meetings with various parties to ensure a timely and complete transition plan and execution:
  • Be proactive in identifying and exploring risks, issues, and opportunities in Technical Transition activities; and work within the Risk Management framework to ensure these transition-related risks are identified, tracked, and mitigated or controlled appropriately
  • Ensure that all work conducted within the Technical Transition space complies with WSIA Program technical, operational, and program governance, processes, and standards
  • Manage the efforts of DAS and other tower systems integration experts and test experts
  • Immediately report transition- and integration-related issues that are unresolvable at your level to
