We are open to various levels of seniority. As a Senior Ecologist or Principal Ecologist you will provide ecological assessments and advice related to large infrastructure project approvals and natural resource management projects.
We work hybrid and this role can be based in our Brisbane, Gold Coast or Sunshine Coast office. This means you will have the opportunity to work in the location that best suit your preferences and work from home for up to two days per week, ensuring a healthy work-life balance.
What you’ll do
- Deliver rehabilitation, biodiversity surveys, impact and offset assessments and ecological management plans
- Conduct environmental analyses and mapping, research and field surveys
- Review technical, environmental reports, proposals and tenders
- Plan and manage projects with a range of complexity and scale
- Build relationships with clients while actively pursuing new business opportunities
- Mentor junior staff and assist with their professional development
The Principal level role is mid-level management and will balance technical work, staff recruitment/development and work-winning in Queensland, with the support of a well-established local multi-disciplinary Environmental services business and a strong client base in the transport, mining, power, construction, water and property sectors.

About you
The successful candidate will be a natural connector and a problem solver with a powerful team spirit.
You’re likely to have 8+ years of experience in biodiversity impact assessment, environmental offsets and mine rehabilitation, some of it in leadership positions.
Previous consulting experience is highly desirable.
You will also bring the following:
- Experience in coordinating specialist teams (including subcontractors) to delivery ecological assessments
- Significant field experience (i.e. ecological monitoring, plant species and threatened ecological community identification, protected plant flora surveys in flora HRAs, ecological data collection and analysis, managing project teams, etc.)
- Regional Ecosystem verification, BioCondition surveys and vegetation identification training and botany skills
- Some experience in GIS, field mapping and developing and managing spatial datasets
- Knowledge of Queensland and State/Commonwealth regulatory frameworks and policy
- Have a passion for ecology, conservation, biodiversity and natural resources management
