ABOUT ADZ ENERGY

ADZ Energy is an Australian Exploration and Production company focused on the discovery, development and production of world class gas and associated liquids resources, delivering to the East Coast Domestic Gas Market.

We operate the Kincora Gas Plant, currently producing 4TJ/d, with a well intervention and drilling program in place to increase production to 12TJ/d in the short term and to 25TJ/d in the long term.

ADZ Energy will remain focused on accelerating gas and liquids production from its Kincora Gas Project in Queensland. The Group’s portfolio includes a mix of conventional and unconventional, high-quality oil and gas prospects across multiple basins with a range of project maturity that will realise near-term value accretion and mid- to long-term transformational growth across its Northern Territory, Victoria and South Australia jurisdictions.

POSITION PURPOSE

As our Senior to Principal level Exploration level Geophysicist, you will be a technical lead and hands on member of the team undertaking geophysical and supporting geological studies and workflows to mature the understanding of prospectivity of the basins in which we operate. In doing so, high-grading and executing exploration and appraisal activities across the ADZ Energy portfolio.

You will be responsible for proposing, designing and delivering technically robust exploration workflows to contribute to the build of prospect and lead inventories, used to assess the relative prospectivity and commercial viability of plays, prospects and leads across the exploration acreage within the Cooper-Eromanga, Otway, McArthur, and Bowen-Surat Basins.

You will deliver high quality geophysical interpretations from both company and public datasets across all of ADZ Energy’s exploration acreage. You will be responsible for interpreting and mapping with both 2D and 3D seismic data, and integrating other geophysical datasets, well data and geological studies to deliver robust structural and stratigraphic models in defining and maturing exploration plays and prospects.

To be successful in this role, you will have a core petroleum geoscience background & proven capability in integrated exploration, appraisal & development activities with extensive experience in play & prospect generation/maturation & expertise in assessing geological risk & uncertainty in resources assessment. You will have demonstrable experience of capability of addressing subsurface challenges at the regional, permit & prospect scales.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The duties of the position include, but are not limited to:

• Analyse geophysical, geological, geochemical, petrophysical [RS1] and drilling data to build integrated assessments of the exploration potential to inform volumetric estimates, technical risking, prospect ranking, permit value and executing operational programs to assess these exploration opportunities.
• You will need to have strong expertise across multiple principles of exploration, including petroleum system elements analysis, integration of geophysical / petrophysical interpretations and insights, and integration of multi-vintages of 2D/3D seismic datasets and well data. 
• You will need to demonstrate a strong grasp of probability and uncertainty, including how to identify, quantify, capture and communicate these principles through the G&G workflows with consideration of the context of complex datasets and data gaps. 
• Primarily exploration play and prospect generation and maturation with particular emphasis on seismic interpretation, seismic attribute assessment and higher end QI workflows where required.
• Seismic survey design and managing survey feasibility, planning, approvals and acquisition.
• Manage and monitor QC of seismic processing projects.
• Delivering technical excellence within a multidisciplinary team, collaborating regularly with peers to support Subsurface, Projects and Operations in the broader business by providing geophysical support as required.
• Mentoring other geoscientists, fostering a culture of learning, innovation, and technical excellence within the team.
• In addition to exploration activities, supporting ongoing permit administration, joint venture and regulatory activities and reporting.
• The ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and deliver desired results within established timeframes and budgets.
• You will be a self-starter and have the motivation and ability to communicate clearly and concisely verbally and in writing, to various audiences.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Required Formal Qualifications or Trade experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Geoscience, Geophysics or other relevant discipline.
• 10+ / 20+ years of industry experience for Senior / Principal levels, respectively.
• A proven track record of success in conventional and unconventional exploration. 

Desirable Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Personal Attributes

It is desirable that the incumbent can demonstrate experience and/or knowledge in the following:

• Experience of working in a small, multifunctional teams. 
• Extensive experience with various geoscience disciplines – including petroleum systems and integrated basin analysis, 2D/3D seismic interpretation mapping, structurally consistent map generation, seismic attribute and quantitative interpretation, petrophysics, sequence stratigraphy, well log interpretation, seismic acquisition planning and operations, and wellsite geophysics supporting real-time drilling operations. 
• Strong geophysical workstation skills with fundamental interpretation geophysical skills sets including well to seismic correlation, seismic mapping, velocity model building, depth conversion, 3D visualisation, reservoir properties analysis, AVO inversion and analysis, acoustic and elastic inversion. 
• Practical experience in the Cooper-Eromanga, Otway, McArthur, and/or Bowen-Surat basins will be considered highly valuable.
• Depth of experience working on conventional structural and stratigraphic play concepts through to prosect generation, with exposure to unconventional plays and workflows also considered desirable.
• Extensive experience in onshore operational activity e.g. demonstrating contributions to seismic acquisition and drilling campaigns – a key contributor to technical aspects,but demonstrating exposure to complex stakeholder environments and involvement in environmental and safety regulatory approvals.
• Proficiency with industry standard geophysical, modelling and mapping software packages e.g. Petrel, Kingdom, Insight, and Petrosys.
• Good data management skills capturing and updating corporate knowledge in an organised manner within corporate repositories.
