The Opportunity

We are seeking a passionate and motivated individual to join our team as Senior Traffic Engineering Designer based in the Don Aitken Centre, East Perth.

Reporting to the Traffic Engineering Standards Manager, this role is responsible for providing specialist advice and support to Main Roads staff and technical consultants in relation to Traffic Engineering design and safety, including the development and maintenance of related technical standards, specifications, and guidelines.

This role is also responsible for analysing proposals for Traffic Engineering designs and recommending and managing the appointment of technical consultants for Traffic Engineering design projects.

The role also includes researching and recommending the implementation of new technology and road safety initiatives as well as co-ordinating and promulgation of, and training in, technical standards in their application.

Your expertise in road Traffic Engineering design, understanding of contracts and ability to think critically will compliment your project management skills. You will show leadership by motivating and developing traffic engineer team members and driving the continual improvement of Traffic Engineering design across Main Roads. Along with the ability to manage employee behaviour, performance and development.

The role also requires an individual with strong stakeholder engagement/management skills in relation to public consultation processes associated with road projects.
