Maroondah City Council is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to join our Engineering Team in the role of Senior Traffic & Transport Engineer.
In this exciting opportunity, you will play a crucial role in providing high-level technical expertise in traffic and Transportation Engineering.
You will be responsible for providing traffic engineering and transport planning support, guidance, and advice to the engineering team, internal departments, external customers, and assisting the Coordinator Engineering Services & Strategy in support of Councils overall objectives, priorities, and service standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert technical guidance to the traffic engineering team, and other relevant internal Council stakeholders
- Investigate and analyse traffic engineering and transportation issues (including parking matters), preparing reports and recommendations, including dealings with including Transport-related State Government departments
- Prepare traffic and Transportation Engineering strategies and policies in accordance with industry standards and guidelines.
- Manage the development of the Local Area Traffic Management program, the Accessibility program, and the PPN (footpath) program.
- Collaborate with the Engineering Projects Team to facilitate the delivery of Traffic and Transportation Infrastructure Projects.
- Undertake assessments of Traffic Management Plans, National Heavy Vehicle applications, Statutory Planning Applications (in regard to traffic impacts)
Qualifications and Skills:
- Relevant qualifications in Traffic & Transport Engineering or a related field
- Professional engineering registration as required under the Professional Engineers Registration Act 2019
- Proven experience in traffic engineering and transportation planning.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Knowledge of industry standards, codes, and guidelines.
