Senior Transport Planner

$105,479 - $127,621 p.a plus superannuation
Fixed Term until 20 April 2025

About the Team

The Integrated Transport team is ateam of transport planners responsible for strategic and network planning for the regional transport system. This team will ensure that the regional transport system is planned as one integrated system and will be responsible for developing and maintaining a contemporary Regional Integrated Transport Plan that captures the regional strategic outcomes and transport initiatives.

The team is responsible for undertaking robust modal planning utilising the Movement and Place framework, strategic transport corridor planning and developing integrated transport responses to major land use changes representing a whole of transport view.

The team plays a key interface role with councils in the development of large scale growth areas particularly around major urban centres.

As a key interface for major projects in the region, the team will work closely with central departments to ensure the regional network needs are reflected in the Department's client requirements for major projects.

About the Opportunity

This role is to represent the Department's interests in growth area planning that is occurring across Greater Geelong and other regional centres in the Barwon South West Region to ensure it is undertaken in an integrated and sustainable manner reflecting the strategic objectives of the Transport Integration Act, the State and Local Planning Policy framework.

The role will work collaboratively across the transport portfolio, with local government partners and other government departments and agencies to advance integrated land use and transport planning.

Position Outcomes

Engage with regional Industries, portfolio agencies, government agencies, local government, local communities, freight and logistics companies and other transport and industry stakeholders to ensure successful integrated transport planning occurs and transport issues are effectively managed.
Assist in developing and documenting a clear strategic narrative for regional transport planning and strategy that articulates the current and future performance needs of the transport system, including creating an evidence base and analyse of relevant regional indicators to support the needs.
Support the planning, coordination and delivery of regional transport projects, events and programs.
Provide departmental input and representation on local and regional strategic and land use planning activities and coordinate whole of transport portfolio input into strategic planning activities.
Work closely within the Department, other portfolio agencies, government agencies, local government and regional leadership groups to integrate transport considerations into land use, strategic planning and economic development activities.

Desirable

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant or a related discipline.
