About the role:
As a Senior Underwriter, your primary role is to contribute to the risk management of Bluestone by conducting comprehensive assessments of creditworthiness on residential mortgage applications. Using your analytical skills and industry expertise, you will evaluate the creditworthiness of clients, assess the risk associated with lending and investment activities, and provide recommendations to support sound decision-making.
Day to day will look something like this:
- Conduct a thorough analysis of mortgage applications
- Maintain a Lending delegation of up to $2.5m
- Support training and development of junior underwriters
- Build strong and trusting broker and customer relationships
- Providing scenario assistance to BDMs and Brokers
The ideal candidate will:
- Minimum 3 years of underwriting experience within a residential mortgage environment. Non-conforming mortgage experience essential
- Thorough ongoing understanding of relevant regulatory legislation
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Professional telephone manner and strong communication skills
- A technical understanding of underwriting and an ability to communicate coherently to clients, customers, and colleagues.
- Strong commercial acumen and the ability to shape and negotiate deals
- Initiative and a high level of problem solving skills
- Ability to work effectively under pressure
