The opportunity
Tract seeks a passionate Urban Designer or Senior Urban Designer to join our Sydney based office within our established National team, who has experience in delivering place based, human centered projects across multiple scales.
We can offer the right person the opportunity to progress their career in a vibrant, contemporary, multi-disciplinary design environment. Collaborate and partake in internal discussions across multiple disciplines, solidifying a great work environment and ability to improve knowledge and skills across all aspects of the industry. Work on an exciting variety of projects including designing residential, recreation and tourism, civic, education, health and public realm outcomes, across the public and private sector.
The role will involve:
- Taking ownership of strategic design projects, including structure plans and urban design frameworks, with the ability to input into design development and report writing.
- Assisting with design, project management and client support in both public and private sectors, working across town centre/precinct renewals, infill developments, greenfield/new community masterplans, public domain plans, and spatial framework projects..
- Being part of the development of tender bids and EOI opportunities.

We are looking for an Urban Designer or Senior Urban Designer who:
- Holds a recognised tertiary qualification in a design or planning discipline (Urban Design, Architecture, Landscape Architecture or Planning).
- Has proven experience at a similar level, ideally 5+ years post-graduate, or ready to make the step up.
- Can demonstrate a good working knowledge of best practice urban design, ideally with masterplanning and feasibility study expertise, as well as in the development of public domain plans, structure plans and urban design frameworks.
- Thrives working as part of a team, is self-motivated and is comfortable undertaking self-directed work.
- Understands the importance of delivering project outputs on time and within budget.
- Has excellent design, graphic, verbal and written communication skills.
- Has a high level of proficiency in CAD (MicroStation would be advantageous, but non-essential) , Rhino and the Adobe Suite. Knowledge/skills in QGIS would be advantageous.
