Your key duties and responsibilities
In this role you will:
- Lead a small team to provide mentoring, coaching and performance management to encourage innovation, maximum efficiency and improved business relationships and performance.
- Actively participate in performance conversations to build and support a culture of performance improvement.
Support the development of peers and valuers across State Valuation Services.
- Work autonomously and show initiative in undertaking a significant individual valuation commitment in accordance with level of experience and knowledge when providing valuations for statutory, State Land Asset Management and client and asset purposes.
- Be accountable for the delivery of consistent valuation services which align to the State Valuation Service (SVS) procedures and work instructions, in accordance with statutory requirements and instructions of all clients.
- Resolve statutory grievances relating to valuation activities; prepare Land Court briefs and appear as an expert witness in the Land Court.
- Prepare monthly work plans individually and for your team that demonstrate an understanding of current workloads, report to management on performance against Client Service Standards and undertake effective planning to ensure that deadlines are met.
- Be responsible for implementing new initiatives in relation to computer-based valuation activities within the State Valuation Service which improve productivity and allow delivery of effective and efficient outcomes.
- Participate in the development of business relationships to provide services and identify business opportunities within defined markets, including the development and maintenance of stakeholder and client relationships and the negotiation of complex valuation issues and disputes.
- Liaise with and provide advice regarding valuation issues when required, including written correspondence to departmental employees, other government departments, government owned agencies, local government and members of the public.
- Investigate, evaluate and resolve allocated valuation and land administration issues, provide expert advice and report to clients/management on complex and/or contentious land related issues.
- Represent the business unit as required at external forums and liaise on behalf of the State Valuation Service on significant matters.
- While not mandatory, it would be preferable for the applicant to have a membership with the Australian Property Institute or/and Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors.
- Travel away from the office will be required. This will involve travel outside of normal office hours and/or overnight accommodation for extended periods.
