Job description

Full-time (1.0 FTE), permanent position, SCHaDS Employee Level 4

About Us:

We are a growing and innovative social enterprise supporting around 10,000 South Australians each year through housing and community services. Seeking opportunities to build positive pathways and connected thriving communities, we are one of few South Australian organisations offering an integrated model of housing and support. Together, we are committed to effecting long-term positive change for those we work with and the communities we work in. Together, we are improving lives and building strong, resilient, and connected communities.

The Opportunity:

As Junction embarks on the creation of a pioneering "Tiny Homes" campus to facilitate the transition of young people out of the care system, the role of Senior Youth Development Coach presents a unique opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of vulnerable youth. With a primary focus on youth engagement and empowerment, this role is instrumental in fostering a sense of community within the Tiny Homes Village while aligning support services with the individual goals and aspirations of each resident. By collaborating closely with young people, Youth Development Coaches, and external stakeholders, the Senior Youth Development Coach plays a pivotal role in creating pathways for personal growth, learning, earning, and meaningful connection. This is an unparalleled chance to contribute to a groundbreaking initiative that aims to provide holistic support and opportunities for young people as they embark on their journey towards independence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support with the identification and matching of young people to the Tiny Homes Village, Supported Independent Living Service (SILS) Outreach, and Stability Post Care (SPC) program.
  • Provide expertise in youth engagement to build the confidence and capability of the Youth Development Coaches.
  • Support with the management of financial resources and accounting, including overseeing purchasing of household items for the young people.
  • Assist with identifying and leveraging existing local networks and resources, and broker new relationships within the community (government, community, business, philanthropic) to create diverse and sustainable pathways and opportunities for young people.
  • Source opportunities to connect young people to community mentors who can help them explore their personal and professional aspirations and provide them with guidance, support, and encouragement in line with their identified goals; also support mentors to connect with young people.

Our Ideal Candidate:

We are seeking a highly passionate professional who:

  • Has sound communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage and establish rapport with clients, staff, and external agencies
  • Has the ability to identify and establish relationships with organisations, businesses, and community groups to create new opportunities for young people

  • Has the ability to work in a team environment and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Has experience working with, or demonstrated understanding of the needs of, children and adolescents at risk
  • Has an understanding of social justice principles – including equity of access, discrimination, and equal opportunity, individuals’ rights and privacy
  • Has an understanding of relevant statutory requirements and legislation for children under the Guardianship of the Chief Executive and supported accommodation
  • Hours range from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm (no more than 8 hours per shift but flexible across those times)
