About the role

The Youth Justice Services Division is responsible for the safety, security and rehabilitation of young people both in the community and custody.  Its core objective is to reduce reoffending among young people and to divert young people away from the criminal justice system.

The Senior Youth Justice Officer position is responsible for the day-to-day case coordination and supervision of young people on community based orders (including Supervised Release Orders – juvenile parole), the case coordination of young people on Detention Orders and the provision and submission of accurate and timely court reports (including representing the Department in Court). 

The Senior Youth Justice Officer is responsible for providing services for young people that are in alignment with those mandated under the Young Offenders Act 1994.

Eligibility to Apply

Applicants must have a current valid driver’s licence, Working with Children Check (WWCC) or be able to successfully apply for a WWCC to be eligible for appointment to this position.

About you

Interested parties must be able to demonstrate case management experience in working with some of the most vulnerable, complex and marginalised young people in our community.

All employees are required to undergo employment screening, which includes a National Criminal History Check and other checks that may be relevant to the position requirements.
