4Cyte Pathology provides clinical diagnostics services to healthcare practitioners and the local community. The laboratory is rapidly expanding, and we are seeking an additional suitably qualified Senior Scientific Officer to join our Sydney Team.
About the role
You will be working in a senior/supervisory role with a range of automated analysers and manual testing. The role will also include new test development and validation. There will also be opportunities to develop expertise or use current experience in specialised areas of testing. Previous supervisory experience with chemistry and immunoassay analysers attached to an automation line in a central pathology laboratory would be required. High degree of clinical interpretation knowledge is also desirable.
Criteria:
- A bachelor degree at Australian Qualification Framework level 7 with subjects relevant to chemistry. Higher level qualification would be highly desirable.
- Demonstrated experience with experiment design, verification and validation of new assays
- Demonstrated experience in QC and QAP management
- Demonstrated experience in maintaining, utilising, commissioning and troubleshooting equipment and instruments
- Experience in clinical interpretation of results
- Exhibit high level of interpersonal skills and ability to manage a team and rostering
- Working closely with the Medical Director/Chemical Pathologist and other supervisory staff to ensure optimum patient outcomes
- Chair department meetings and attend other quality/operational meetings
- Experience with training and mentoring staff members
- Experience with reagent and consumable management
- Extensive experience with Laboratory Information Systems
- Strong understanding of accreditation (NATA) and regulatory requirements
