A bit about the role

Join our team to support the Service Improvement Project Hub by collaborating closely with both internal and external stakeholders throughout all phases of project development, from feasibility assessment to implementation.

Your role will involve providing quality assurance and project support to enable the timely delivery of projects within budget and in alignment with Council’s project management framework. Additionally, you will be responsible for reporting that informs strategic decision-making and enables Council to meet their legislative reporting requirements. Finally, you will contribute to, enable and mature Council’s project management framework and capability across the organisation.

What you’ll deliver

  • Identify, update and support the implementation of process improvement opportunities and adoption of best practice across the Service Improvement Project Hub
  • Identify capability gaps and training opportunities for staff within the Service Improvement Project Hub.
  • Assist in the coordination and development of project proposals (initiatives).
  • Support the development and review of portfolio specific artefacts.
  • Conduct project stage gate reviews ensuring compliance with project management framework.
  • Review project status reports and exception reports for accuracy and completeness.
  • Support the change request management process including reviewing change requests.
  • Coordinate workshops and training sessions with project managers to share best practices and lessons learned. 
  • Produce consolidated project and portfolio performance reports for key stakeholders and forums.

What you’ll bring

  • A qualification relevant to Project or Portfolio Management, either higher formal qualifications coupled with less experience, or less formal qualifications supported by extensive experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in portfolio, program and/or project management.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting the oversight/delivery of varied programs of work including technology, community-related and/or business enabling projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing and uplifting organisational project management practice.
  • Demonstrated experience in collaboration and building productive relationships across an organisation.
  • Program/Project Management methodology certifications (MSP, Agile, Prince2, ITIL, Cobit) are desirable.
  • Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check and Eligibility to Work check.
  • A curious, collaborative, and inclusive community mindset.
