Service Integration Team Leader, Clerk Grade 7/8

Tamworth Correctional Centre – Ongoing role

Broken Hill Correctional Centre – temporary up to 12 months

Your role

The Service Integration Team Leader (SITL) is a new role that has been created as part of the Custody-based Services and Program Redesign. The role reports directly to the standalone Manager of Security (MOS) of the correctional centre and is a key member of the centre’s leadership team.  The role leads a multidisciplinary team that includes Classification and Placement, Case Management, Psychology and Services and Programs staff, in accordance with CSNSW strategic priorities and performance targets.

What you’ll do

  • Work and collaborate with officers in charge of the correctional centre and key stakeholders in Security & Custody, Community Industry & Capacity and Strategy & Governance to efficiently integrate policy, practice and functions to facilitate effective delivery of offender services in the correctional setting.
  • Represent and advocate for the delivery of a range of professional services and disciplines as a member of the Correctional Centre leadership team.
  • Provide consultation and guidance to custodial management and other staff in a less complex, low-volume setting, regarding the rehabilitation/reintegration needs of people in custody.
  • Manage direct reports and their teams in the delivery of professional and timely services that meet or exceed target Key Performance Indicators and the priorities set out in case management plans.
  • Provide guidance and coordinate teams in their provision of rehabilitation and reintegration functions to maximise the delivery of focused services and ensure that people in custody have realistic opportunities to achieve the goals set in case management plans.
  • Develop local business continuity plans to mitigate service disruption and manage their deployment to meet service continuity expectations and performance metrics.
  • Provide direction and guidance of local assessment, case planning, programs and services, case management, classification and placement, including case plan currency, relevance and implementation, consistent with Strategy & Governance Practice and Standards.
  • Develop local procedures and creative solutions to address local issues.
  • Prepare and review less complex briefing papers, submissions, discussion papers, responses to information requests and reports regarding program targets, services and operations.
  • In conjunction with local management, identify and manage risks and manage small projects that focus on high performing teams, good governance, improving outcomes and value for money.
  • Role model a ‘one team’ approach and foster a physically and psychologically safe workplace and a safe environment for all.

What we’re looking for

  • Experience in coordinating interdisciplinary teams to achieve performance outcomes.
  • Knowledge of behavioural change theory and practice
  • Commitment to implementing reforms and initiatives that deliver the key priorities set out in the Towards 2030 Strategic Plan
  • Sound problem solving, communication and people management skills.
  • Capability to create a collaborative work environment where the rehabilitative needs of the person in custody are at the centre of the team’s work.
  • Current Drivers licence and willingness to drive a departmental vehicle to perform the role, including overnight travel.
