Job Description: We are seeking a skilled Underground Service Locator to join our dynamic team. As an Underground Service Locator, you will be responsible for using advanced technology and equipment to detect and map underground utilities such as gas, water, electrical, and telecommunication lines. Your primary objective will be to accurately identify the location and depth of these utilities to facilitate safe design, excavation and construction activities.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct underground utility locating surveys using electromagnetic and ground-penetrating radar equipment.
- Interpret utility maps, construction plans, and work directly with clients to determine the scope of work.
- Employ industry best practices to accurately mark the location, depth, and type of underground utilities.
- Communicate findings effectively with project managers, construction crews, and clients.
- Adhere to safety protocols and regulations to minimize the risk of accidents and damages.
- Maintain equipment in optimal condition and ensure proper calibration for precise measurements.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as an Underground Service Locator or similar role.
- Proficiency in operating electromagnetic locators, ground-penetrating radar, and other utility locating equipment.
- Strong understanding of utility symbols, construction plans, and mapping techniques.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data and plans accurately.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in underground utility locating.
- Valid driver's license.
- Construction induction (White Card)
- The ability to work autonomously and unsupervised
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification from a recognized organization such as NULCA (National Utility Locating Contractors Association), DBYD (BYDA) or equivalent.
