With 7 team leaders as direct reports, the Settlements Manager will play a pivotal role in overseeing a team of senior motor claims consultants, providing strategic leadership to ensure efficient claims handling and favourable settlements, analysing results and being able to draw on insights and trends to ensure best practice is achieved across the team and to our customers.Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Focus on operational performance across key metrics, including settlement rate, total loss, car hire, legal spend etc.
- Leading a team of 7 direct reports, including onboarding, coaching, mentoring to uplift performance and drive continuous improvement
- Keep up to date with industry trends as they relate to credit hire practices, and develop strategies to mitigate risk
- Resolution of disputes and complaints
- Implementation of strategies to streamline the settlement process and improve efficiency, while taking commercial acumen into account for all decision making
- Be a key contributor to establishing negotiation strategies and then implementing these to support business outcomes
- Collaboration with other internal teams to identify areas for improvement
- Engagement with external stakeholders such as our legal panel, insurers and representatives.
- A Minimum of 5+ years in a leadership position, ideally within an insurance or legislative environment
- Solid working knowledge of motor insurance claims management, relative to applicable legislation, processes and industry best practices
- Highly developed analytical, problem-solving and decision making skills
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with a diverse range of stakeholders
- Ability to identify opportunities for process improvement and automation, while ensuring the department maintains regulatory and compliance obligations
- Demonstrated ability to effectively engage, influence and develop others
- A keen analytical approach, with a focus on innovative solutions and extrapolating insights from data
- High level project management experience, with the ability to work within agreed timeframes.
