Job description

City of Newcastle (CN) is seeking experienced Mechanics to join our Workshop Team based at our Waratah Depot site. This position carries out mechanical works as delegated, ensuring compliance with national standards and completing all relevant documentation, working shifts between 1pm - 9.06pm.

As the successful candidate you’ll be responsible for servicing and maintenance of CN fleet as directed, including garbage fleet vehicles, fixed and mobile plant, light fleet and NHVAS accredited fleet. You’ll work as a team to complete inspections and repairs as required within designated timeframes to maintain CN’s NHVAS accreditation and will ensure all shift ‘Works’ are completed to Original Equipment Manufacturers standards, NSW and Australian roadworthiness / accreditations levels.

You will offer consultation on maintenance and preventative procedures on vehicles and machinery, you'll contribute as a member of the team by proactively engaging in toolbox talks/meetings and completing documentation as required. Additionally, you'll provide a high level of customer service support at the service reception desk and respond to requests in a timely and professional manner.

Remuneration: $82,981.04 + 11.5% Superannuation per annum for a 38-hour week, plus:

  • Fortnightly Tool allowance of $74.44
  • Working Conditions allowance of $17.26 per fortnight and
  • 20% shift allowance for ordinary hours worked after 6.30pm
