Join our Team as our Showroom Sales Assistant (Part Time)

Port Stephens Packaging & Workwear (PSP) is a family-owned distribution business established in 2005. PSP is based on a large company-owned site at Taylors Beach with an impressive showroom, offices and warehouse. PSP services not only Port Stephens, but Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, the Hunter Valley and beyond.

PSP markets over 10,000 products from leading manufacturers to many industries including cleaning and chemicals, tableware and catering, kitchen and hospitality (including kitchen equipment), packaging and consumables. PSP also supplies chef and hospitality wear, corporate, workwear, safety gear, boots, plus bakery, aprons, and more. PSP are specialists in hospitality supplies and environmentally friendly consumables.

Due to one of our team recently changing career direction, we are currently recruiting for a highly motivated Showroom Sales Assistant to join our company and be part of our customer-focused team.

Reporting to the Administration Manager, duties will include:

Support and generate revenue growth by providing outstanding customer service in the wholesale/retail showroom. This includes in-house administration support as well as being part of a team who complete the following tasks:

  • Daily coordination of phone orders and enquiries.
  • Contacting customers daily for their regular orders.
  • Create and finalise customer invoices including the accurate receipting of funds and recording all appropriate information on invoices such as PO numbers.
  • General reception duties and dealing with existing and new clients through their visits to our site as well as through other means of communication to take orders.
  • Ensure showroom is always presentable and clean, restocking as necessary and ensuring correct pricing is in place for all items on display for sale.
  • Keep a current knowledge of product lines – new and existing.
  • Support Accounts Receivable (Debtors) by constantly monitoring outstanding payments due.
  • Monitor relevant Pending Orders and Back Orders
  • Maintain a clean and safe workspace and abide by workplace health and safety policies and procedures. This includes keeping a neat and tidy workspace ensuring the showroom and office spaces are kept in optimal presentation.
  • Understand the responsibilities and duties of your teammates and learn their roles to support them during their busy periods and be confident to act for them in their occasional absence.
  • Other tasks and administration duties required.

Essential Skills:

  • Customer focused and results driven, flexible to change, tolerant of variables in your day.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to speak with a range of stakeholders.
  • Excellent cash/finance handling skills including daily reconciliation.
  • Confidence in your ability to work with a customer through the entire sales process.
  • Dealing with high volume environments with the ability to make informed decisions in a range of situations.
  • Highly organised and able to prioritise tasks for maximum efficiency.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality as required.
  • Experience or confidence in supporting Accounts Receivable process is an advantage.
  • Excellent administrative skills including prioritising tasks and meeting competing deadlines.

Proposed Salary is pro-rata of full time $50000 gross per annum + SUPER. This is negotiable based on the extent of the part time role. The role has the flexibility to be full time, part time or casual to mutual suitability and the hours per week and days per week are flexible in relation to fitting our roster with your lifestyle. Initially the role would be 15-20 hours per week depending on the candidate's preferences and suitability.
