Overview of the role
Applications are now open for a Shutdown Scheduler to join the Shutdowns Team in the Asset Management department.
This role is crucial in the strategic planning and execution phases of shutdown projects within the Port Pirie Smelter. The Shutdown Scheduler is responsible for developing and managing detailed schedules that translate project goals into actionable and trackable plans. This position reports directly to the Shutdown Superintendent and works closely with Project Managers and various coordinators to ensure efficient resource use and adherence to timelines and cost objectives.
This is a residential role based in Port Pirie, South Australia, on a Monday to Friday roster. Relocation assistance will be provided to the successful candidate if required.
Key responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:
- Schedule Development and Management: Develop, manage, and regularly update comprehensive schedules for both the planning and execution phases, incorporating inputs from various stakeholders. Ability to optimise schedules and perform critical path analysis.
- Progress Tracking and Reporting: Monitor, analyse, and report on the progress of all project phases on a twelve-hour basis. Provide daily program and forecast reporting to management during the execution phase.
- Communication and Documentation: Manage clear and effective communication across all project stakeholders, ensuring high visibility and understanding of scheduling details. Handle the distribution of schedule documentation and address queries to clarify understanding.
- Resource Allocation and Scope Management: Prepare short and long-term resource allocation plans based on input from all key players.
Qualifications, Skills & Experiences:
- Proven track record in schedule management and coordination within the industrial, mining, or heavy industry sectors.
- Hands-on experience using project planning tools including a high degree of proficiency in Microsoft Project.
- 1-5 years of experience in project planning roles
- Exceptional organisational and communication skills, capable of leading cross-functional teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft suite of applications, including a high degree in Microsoft Excel & Microsoft Project.
- Ability to analyse and foresee potential schedule conflicts and proactively address them.
