We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and reliable individual to fill the position of Side Loader Collection Vehicle Operator within our friendly waste team.
As the Side Loading Collection Vehicle Operator, you will be responsible for the completion of all duties associated with the collection of residual waste, presented in dedicated residual waste bins, from nominated properties, utilising one operator Side Loading Collection Vehicles, from various locations around the City of Lake Macquarie.
Working for Council’s Waste team you will be providing an imperative service for the community?
This exciting role will:
- As the Driver you will operate the garbage Collection Vehicle
- You will ensure optimum and efficient use of the Side Loading Collection Vehicle
- Achieving maximum productivity with minimum inconvenience (noise, nuisance, disturbance) to the public during collection services
- Assist in the development and review of Risk Assessments / Work Method Statements, Procedures
- Ensure no materials escape from the Collection Vehicle
- Handle MGB’s in a manner that does not damage the MGB
- Notify the customer for any non-collection
- Comply with the requirements of any relevant waste collection contract.

LET’S HEAR ABOUT YOU
- You hold a current HR drivers licence
- Stand out of the crowd with your experience in operating a Side Loading Collection Vehicle
- Having a strong team work ethic, you work cooperatively to ensure high standards of work
- Your understanding of Work Health and Safety requirements is evident.
- Having previous experience within Waste Services your customer service skills are second to none
- You display a general knowledge and understanding of Council’s waste management services
- Most of all you have a can-do attitude.

- Competitive salary from $34.53 to $38.65 per hour with 3.5% increase from 6 July 2024
