Queensland Rail is looking for a Signal Design Engineering Officer to join our Signalling Design Engineering team.
Here at Queensland Rail our Signal Engineers experience a wide range of rail projects from the biggest infrastructure growth projects e.g. Cross River Rail to small but satisfying operational reliability improvements across a range of signal engineering technologies.
The Signalling Design Team delivers a diverse range of engineering activities associated with the design and the development of rail signalling assets, critical to the operation of the rail network. In Queensland Rail you will have a unique opportunity to be part of the whole railway engineering life cycle starting designs from concept, to working with operational stakeholders in understand how the design impacts on and delivers their needs. Then see it through to through to its commissioning, and reliable use in operation.

The remuneration for your new role starts at $121,000 plus 12.75% superannuation with the option to salary sacrifice.

Role overview:
- Design and solve technical problems related to Signal Engineering design articles including Signalling Arrangements, Control Tables, Circuits and Interlocking Data.
- Provide a role as a signal engineering specialist in a team of engineering professionals and paraprofessionals, including multi-disciplinary project-based teams to ensure delivery of effective and commercially valuable signal engineering solutions.
- Support the development and implementation of processes and standards used within the Signal Engineering Office.
Location/hours:
- Brisbane CBD office location.
- Our standard working hours are 38 hour per work week Monday to Friday, however whilst limited, there may be requirement for some pre-planned/occasional ad-hoc weekend work or outside hours work to support commissioning of design works. Compensation for approved outside hours work applies.
What you’ll bring:
- High level of skill and experience in delivering signal engineering solutions to meet project requirements.
- Analytical skills including critical thinking, data analysis, research, and ability to identify and solve complex issues.
- Sound level of skill in CAD and drawing management systems.
- Team, stakeholder and contractor engagement communication skills, ability to work across multiple functions and scopes of work, take accountability and drive successful outcomes.
- Independence and ability to operate without direct supervision and exercise initiative.
Qualifications at the time of application:
- Advanced Diploma Electrical Engineering
- Current unrestricted National Drivers Licence
Advanced Diploma qualification must be issued from an accredited Australian educational institution OR you will be able to provide evidence of your qualifications that compare to an Australian Advanced Diploma level or higher that has been issued to you by a recognised educational institution to be assessed under the guidelines and accepted by Queensland Rail.
