About the RoleThis is a Full Time position at 80 hours per fortnight within the Department of
Cardiac Surgery.The purpose of the
Administration Officer role is to provide a high level of administration support to the Department of
Cardiac Surgery with particular focus on secretarial support to the Consultant Cardiac Surgeons.
What you'll achieve:- Provide confidential administrative and secretarial support to the cardiac consultants including diary management, scheduling of meetings and triaging phone calls, management of their On-Call Roster and assisting with research follow-up information.
- Demonstrate advanced computer and administrative skills with audio typing of operation reports, correspondence and management of various database spreadsheets required for the unit.
- General office administration duties including responsibility for ordering office supplies and arranging IT service requests, collecting/sorting mail, managing department email.
- Execution of weekly waitlist / preadmission tasks required for the Cardiac Surgery department and families waitlisted for Cardiac Surgery.
Your skills and experience- Technical administration training with several years' experience or equivalent work experience.
- Demonstrated commitment to work and contribute as part of a team.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of established administrative processes.

Cardiac Surgery Department at the RCH is the sole provider of care for paediatric
Cardiac Surgery for Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia and Northern Territory. The
Cardiac Surgery Department performs over five hundred and thirty open heart surgeries a year. It holds the Nationally Funded Centre for paediatric cardiac transplantation and this includes a large program for LVAD and ECMO.As one of the leading paediatric
Cardiac Surgery programs in the world, our care relies on and includes clinical and technical excellence, innovation, clinical and experimental research and teaching of younger generations of surgeons. In partnership with the Royal Melbourne Hospital, it treats patients with congenital heart disease beyond their transition to adult care.
