This role is a great career opportunity for a pragmatic individual who is passionate about forestry. You would play a key role in a dynamic and supportive team overseeing silviculture operations across the Gippsland plantation estate. You would also play a key role in the Gippsland Plantation Investment Program, a rare opportunity to expand the plantation estate.
The role is based in Churchill (near the regional city of Traralgon) where there are a myriad of great lifestyle opportunities at your fingertips.
Key responsibilities for this role:
Reporting to the Silviculture Manager, the Silviculture District Forester is responsible for the oversight of large contract plantation silvicultural works programs including site preparation, planting and tending activities within strict safety and environmental standards. The role will also require interactions with our numerous stakeholders on a proactive basis.
What you will need to succeed:
- Good computer and mapping skills are required.
- Proven ability in working amongst teams and supervising works crews. This includes managing quality work outcomes within strict time constraints.
- Possess skills to establish and maintain good commercial and community relationships.
- Ability to think innovatively and implement works programs within budgets.
- Ability to communicate clearly and confidently.
- Demonstrated skills or experience in managing and negotiating with contractors.
- Ability to lead in fire prevention and suppression.
- Be a team contributor, and willing to assist your colleagues in other Districts and other functions.
- Valid Current Australian Drivers Licence.
