Your new company
Our client, a local company specialised in construction of commercial, industrial, residential and government facilities, is recruiting an experienced Site Manager / Project Manager to join their team and manage the delivery of a large-scale Defence Building project in a remote area of the Northern Territory.
Your new role
You will be responsible for managing all aspects of the construction works on site and monitoring the delivery of the project to meet the client and company's requirements for quality, safety, and budget. The role reports to a Senior Project Manager based in Darwin. The project is a $40m new build Defence facility located in the Northern Territory. This is a full-time role available on a 10 days on / 4 days off roster from Darwin or other location, with a 2-year duration and the possibility of further work on the next upcoming projects.
Your key responsibilities will be:
Review the project specifications and drawings and determine project scope and construction methodology.
Consult with the designer, architect, engineers and clients regarding construction techniques, materials, and methods.
Develop a detailed construction plan, schedule, and costing plan to deliver the project on time and to budget, according to client and company requirements.
Negotiate with the client, suppliers, and subcontractors, organise the required materials, equipment, subcontractors, and direct labour.
Lead the construction team on site, monitor project construction schedule and report on project progress and updates.
Monitor subcontractors' scope of works and oversee subcontractors' daily operations.
Ensure the project is delivered in compliance with drawings and specifications, all contractual documents, and internal procedures.
Daily and fortnightly programming.
Preparation of progress and variation claims.
Ensure implementation of Safety procedures and policies on-site.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role you will have:
Significant experience in a Site Supervisor, Site Manager, or Project Manager role for Commercial or Government Building projects.
Experience using Project Management software and solid skills in programming are essential.
Understanding of WHSE legislative requirements and ability to communicate this to staff.
Leadership, communication, and time management skills.
Ability to manage risks and identify any possible or actual risk throughout life of project.
Competent in crisis and conflict management with subcontractors.
