About the Role
Due to organisational expansion, we are seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to join our Digital Transformation Program team. In this role, you will develop and maintain software systems and automated solutions to ensure that HAMBS delivers IT services effectively. You will also monitor computer systems, optimise system performance, set up alerts for potential issues, and provide operational support and engineering for large-scale distributed software applications. This role is offered on a maximum-term basis of 1 year.
Key responsibilities
- Analyse operating systems and application metrics to enhance performance and troubleshoot issues.
- Collaborate with development teams to improve services via robust testing and release processes.
- Contribute to system design consulting, platform management, and capacity planning.
- Establish sustainable systems and services through automation.
- Develop software for platform infrastructure and applications management.
- Optimise system performance to meet customer needs and drive innovation.
- Provide operational support and engineering for large-scale distributed software applications.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
- High level of understanding of PowerShell and Windows Server (including configuration/management of roles)
- Intermediate level of understanding of VMware, SharePoint, SQL Server and IaaS based cloud services.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working with Agile and DevOps mindsets on infrastructure projects.
- Experience with automation toolsets such as (Ansible, Terraform), as well as dynamic resource management frameworks (Apache Mesos, Kubernetes, Yarn)
- Proactive approach to identifying problems, performance bottlenecks, and areas for improvement.
