Job description

Partek Construction & Interiors is a well-respected commercial construction company operating in South Australia for 35 years. Due to the ongoing growth of our business, we currently have a unique opportunity for a motivated Site Safety Officer to join our team!

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of all personnel on our construction sites. They will implement and oversee safety protocols, conduct inspections, and provide guidance to promote a culture of safety excellence. This role is site based.

Reporting to the QHSE Manager, your responsibilities will include:

  • Implement Work Health and Safety and assist with its compliance on site
  • Provide guidance to WHS implementation process at site level
  • Collaborate with project managers and supervisors to address safety concerns and promote a culture of safety awareness.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices, regulations, and technologies related to construction safety.
  • Complete reporting on WHS performance and provide WHS advice to the Site Managers
  • Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure adherence to safety standards.
  • Provide safety training to personnel, including new hires and subcontractors, on proper procedures and protocols.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Completed Cert IV or Diploma Occupational Health and Safety
  • Hold a White Card
  • Completed qualifications in a First Aid Certificate
  • Currently hold a valid driver’s licence
  • Commercial construction onsite experience
  • Be confident to give advice, coach and mentor on safety
  • Experience within a similar role within the construction industry
  • Extensive knowledge of Workplace Health & Safety Management Systems and relevant WHS Acts and Regulations, Compliance Codes and Codes of Practices, Australian Standards and Guidance Materials
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
