Site System Specialist

We are seeking a confident Site System Specialist with experience in site compliance control.

Our client is an Australian resources company with world-class operations and exploration projects in the Bowen Basin. There is currently an opportunity available to join their team as a Site System Specialist.

Your new role 

Responsible for supporting the mine in coordinating, improving and governing the Safety and Health Management System (SHMS) and the associated risk management systems, which play an integral part in the site’s compliance to the Queensland Coal Mining Safety and Health Act and Regulation.

Reporting to the Superintendent Site Systems and Training, you will be responsible for executing standards and compliance, in addition you will be responsible for:

• Develop, maintain and govern requirements for the site’s Safety and Health Management System (SHMS).
• Maintain SHMS compliance in line with relevant legislative and Stanmore requirements.
• Govern our risk management requirements.
• Provide technical support to applicable SHMS access systems which support Coal Mine Workers (CMW’s).
• Establish and implement a compliance schedule for the SHMS.
• Identify and lead initiatives to bridge any identified gaps, facilitate change and embed new systems to support the continuous improvement of the SHMS.
• Lead and participate in audits (internal and external) and provide guidance on safety and/or risk management related matters.
• Facilitate risk assessments
• Assist the site leadership team and key stakeholders to improve risk management and safety onsite.
• Support the Superintendent Site Systems and Training in safe work practices that comply with the SHMS and meet obligations required of the General Manager under legislation.
• Support the Specialist Safety and Training during times of absence.
• Comply with Stanmore policies, standards and procedures.
• Build relationships with a range of key stakeholders.
• Be a proactive team member and show initiative in all areas of your work.
• Contribute to maintaining a safe work environment, through actively participating in safety management practices and processes.

What you'll need to succeed 

To be successful in this role, you will have the following qualifications:  

• Certificate IV in Workplace Training & Assessment
• Microsoft programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio)
• Lead Auditor
• Legislation awareness
• Carry out the Risk Management Process RIIRIS402D (G2)
• Apply risk management processes RIIRIS301D (S1)
• Conduct safety and health investigations RIIWHS301D (S2)
• Communicate information RIICOM301D (S3)
• Diploma in Workplace Health and Safety (desirable)

To be successful in this role, you will have the following experience and technical competencies:

• Knowledge and experience with QLD coal mining legislation and WHS legislation.
• Willingness to lead and implement change, as well as influence and mentor others in SHMS principles and behaviours.
• Ability to build highly effective working relationships across a range of stakeholders and working groups.
• Show initiative and work with minimal direction, being resourceful and proactive in your approach.
• Able to display effective communication skills whilst following relevant safety and work procedures.
• Strong problem solving and time management skills.
• Develop, encourage and support a small site team to execute activities and deliver business visibility across in relation to the SHMS.
• Excellent facilitation, presentation, interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
