North West Community Services Inc (NWCS) is a long established, not for profit, community based organisation, servicing individuals and families within Sydney’s North West Growth Area, with a particular focus on Blacktown North West. NWCS has an exciting role for a suitably qualified and experienced professional to join our Ageing, Disability and Wellness Team, providing a range of social support and case management services.
The Position
The Ageing, Disability and Wellness is funded by a range of public and private philanthropic funding.
The program seeks to work with older people to remain living in the community and to maximise their independence. The program is underpinned by a wellness and reablement approach, supporting clients to continue to achieve goals, have roles that are meaningful to them, continue to make a contribution to society and have a thriving life.
The Social Support- Case Worker will provide culturally appropriate social support services to older people and their carer’s, with a focus on information and referral, case work, intake, and group based activities.
The successful candidate will have the following essential requirements:
- Tertiary qualifications in social science/ human services/community services
- Commitment to social justice, cultural diversity, accountability and integrity
- Two years industry experience working with older people
- Two years industry experience delivering client centred case work services to vulnerable people
- Demonstrated experience managing programs and projects
- Strong level of communication, written and interpersonal skills, particularly when working with older people from a range of socioeconomic backgrounds and with diverse stakeholders.
- High level computer skills, documentation, and attention to detail
- Ability to manage a high volume workload
- National Police Check, Working with Children Check and First Aid (or willing to attain)
- Drivers Licence and comprehensively insured motor vehicle
Desirable Criteria
- Membership of Australian Association of Social Workers, ACA, PACFA
