Social Worker

Salary Range: $70,679 - $105,180 (up to $110,398 on achieving a personal upgrade) (PN: 61075)
Cranleigh and Black Mountain School is seeking a Social Worker to be part of an exciting new initiative whereby services are provided that support the needs of students and their families across both primary and high school settings. Successful applicants will evenly distribute their time across Black Mountain School and Cranleigh to provide an integrated allied health lens to help inform evidence based therapeutic approaches. The successful candidate will be a part of each interprofessional school team that directly supports the speech, language, social, functional and communication needs of students in order to increase access to curriculum. The successful candidate will deliver psychosocial interventions to students and families, and provide advice, consultation, and professional learning to schools to improve wellbeing and educational outcomes.
The ideal candidate will be experienced in working with children and families and have a strong understanding of support options available in the ACT. They will be able to work independently and part of a team as well as have excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills. They will have the skills and capacity to impact positively on student outcomes through their delivery of psychosocial interventions in collaboration with students, families and the interprofessional team. They will have a detailed understanding of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and how to best support children and families that are participants in this scheme.
Eligibility/Other Requirements:
Mandatory
- Tertiary qualifications in Social Work
- A minimum of two years, or equivalent, of experience.
- Membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers or eligibility for membership.
- Current drivers licence essential, including access to a private vehicle for work purposes.
- Prior to commencing in this role, a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 will be required. Highly Desirable
- Relevant experience in education or a related area.
- A comprehensive knowledge of youth services and programs in the ACT, and established connections with the ACT Youth and Community Sector.
Notes: This is a temporary position available immediately for up to 12 months with the possibility of permanency. A merit pool may be established from this selection process and may be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only.
