Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) is responsible for providing primary and secondary health care for people living in the Auburn, Blacktown, and The Hills Shire, Holroyd and Parramatta Local Government Areas (LGAs) and tertiary care to residents of the Greater Western Region. What you'll be doing
The primary purpose of this role is to provide person – centred, recovery oriented and trauma informed mental health service incorporating whole person approach and life course approach to people with chronic persistent mental illness and complex psycho social needs.
This position is based in the sub-acute/non-sub-acute/non-acute mental health inpatient unit works within a multidisciplinary team and is responsible to provide comprehensive assessment and interventions related to patient’s social, financial and family circumstances. Complex discharge planning service, patient advocacy and Inpatient Psycho education programs are a component of the role. This position is to plan, coordinate and deliver high quality mental health inpatient social work service to consumers consistent with Western Sydney Local Health District policies procedure and standard.
A primary goal of this position is to work collaboratively with staff, consumers and other agencies ( both within WSLHD and non-Government organisations) to promote effective participation in mental health treatment and recovery. This may include working on quality improvement and service delivery projects as part of the role.

Essential Requirements:
- Qualification: Degree in Social Work and eligibility for membership in AASW
Selection Criteria:
- Degree in social work and eligibility for membership of the AASW
- Demonstrated experience or understanding of working with consumers with an acute mental illness or disorder
- Understanding of mental health act 2007 and related registration
- Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skill including report writing skill, interpersonal skill provide timely and relevant advice, negotiate and problem solve.
- Demonstrated knowledge and commitment to a consumer focused recovery-oriented approach and Trauma Informed Care
- Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision and as a collaborative member of multidisciplinary teams
- Demonstrated evidence or commitment to quality improvement activities and evidence based practices
- Current drivers licence valid within Australia
