The Institute of Mine Seismology (IMS) is a leader in providing Seismic Monitoring solutions that enhance the safety and efficiency of mining operations worldwide. We are currently seeking a talented and highly skilled Software Engineer with a strong background in backend and systems engineering to join our team in Tasmania. This position is pivotal in developing and enhancing our sophisticated Seismic Monitoring Systems.
Responsibilities- Design and develop robust backend systems for seismic data acquisition and processing.
- Implement and maintain systems that handle high-volume, real-time data with low latency.
- Collaborate with geoscientists and other engineers to ensure seamless integration of our technologies.
- Perform rigorous testing and debugging to ensure system reliability and efficiency.
- Document all development processes and contribute to the training of system users.
- Keep abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously improve our systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Proven track record in backend or systems software development, ideally within environments dealing with real-time data processing.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++, Python, or Java, with a strong understanding of system design.
- Experience in managing databases and performing data analysis.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team setting.
