GLYDE has a Product Design Engineer role for an experienced mechanical engineer with a passion for acoustic products, such as operable walls and acoustic sliders.

About the job:

Reporting to Ai's GLYDE Engineering Manager, the role will include all aspects of Product Design and Design Engineering. The emphasis will be on GLYDE, but may support Ai's design team, contributing to product development of all Ai's brands.

Our GLYDE Design team are supportive, friendly, highly skilled, hands-on and complete projects aligned with efficiency, reliability and performance.  They collaborate with all departments for the success of GLYDE’s premium products.

Responsibilities include:

• Design of new and existing products and components to function with safety, reliability and performance in mind
• CAD modelling for design and validation, including specification documentation
• Creation of prototypes to test new or modified products
• Raise internal engineering change documentation to support product/component updates
• Liaise with suppliers for the development or improvement of components or products
• Maintain and improve existing products
• Creation and maintenance of product technical documentation for manufacture, installation, service and customers
• Participation in problem solving activities at manufacturing facilities and customer locations
• Assist and train staff on new and existing products
• Attend meetings as requested and set by your manager
• Attend training (product/system/policy/other) sessions set out by your manager or the company
• Assist with ad hoc processes or projects as requested by the business and/or your manager
• Liaise and establish effective communication with internal sales, operations, quality and project management to ensure we deliver as per our customer’s expectations
• Lead by example and endorse company behaviours and values
• Understand, observe, and adhere to, company policies and procedures, including OH&S policies and procedures and at all times, ensure that work practices are conducted in a safe manner
• Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and those of whom may be affected by your acts or omissions at work

Essential qualifications, skills, and traits:

• Qualification in Mechanical Engineering
• Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar, AutoCAD, and MS Office
• Professionally presented and punctual
• Strong work ethic with a friendly, positive, can-do attitude towards tasks, people, product and self-potential
• Pro-active learner; willing and motivated to learn all product, systems and market information
• An ability to work and contribute as part of a team; see beyond job role, department and division to what matters to the entire business
• Be confident, flexible, persistent and driven
• Rights to live and work in Australia

• Experience with acoustic products, ideally operable walls and sliding doors
• Hand on ability and being mechanically minded
• Problem solving with a can do attitude
