Enjoy the far North lifestyle while working with Medical Imaging Service, Allied Health Services as Sonographer - Advanced. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will be responsible for the leadership, training, workflow management and governance of the Ultrasound Service at Atherton and Mareeba Hospitals. You will also provide professional governance and leadership for the sonography workforce on the Atherton Tableland. This position reports to the Director of Medical Imaging and clinically through the Ultrasound Section Senior.

About you:

In your new role you will…

  • Demonstrate specialist level skill, knowledge and expertise in Sonography (including obstetrics, gynaecology, general, paediatric, musculoskeletal and vascular ultrasound).
  • Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively and participate in a multidisciplinary team independent of supervision. Promote a learning environment within the Ultrasound team and contribute to the learning of others through excellent mentoring, strong group presentation skills and the willingness to share knowledge with others.
  • Demonstrate continual professional development and the ability to lead change through quality and service improvement activities as well as providing clinical supervision of personnel within the scope of the Ultrasound modality.

About your opportunity:

In this position you will professionally lead the Ultrasound service at the Atherton and Mareeba Hospitals to ensure the provision of a high quality, efficient and effective ultrasound service that contributes to accurate diagnoses and successful timely interventions.

About your role:

  • Provide independent specialist level knowledge and clinical skills in complex, contemporary, clinical practice standards with accountability for providing advanced level of clinical services relating to the areas of obstetric, gynaecological, general, paediatric, musculoskeletal and vascular ultrasound.
  • Act as a reference point for other clinicians at a service level to ensure Ultrasound patient care issues are managed, including liaison with other clinicians, clinical departments and external providers and patient related incidents are reported and documented according to hospital procedures.
  • Lead quality and service improvement activities within the ultrasound service by monitoring fundamentals such as, image quality, service improvement activities, the development of better practice, and infection control.
