Job description

This role is newly funded to support the Tasmania Prison Service continue work in the Family Violence Offender Interventions area, with two positions available. The primary focus of these roles is on developing comprehensive sentence plans to co-facilitate rehabilitation programs and Specialist Case management to support this particular cohort of offenders.

Period of Appointment

Fixed term for a period of 2 years from appointment

Hours per fortnight

73.50 hours per fortnight - flexible options available.

Benefits

Salary of $96,584 – 101,313 pa. Starting salary negotiable within range subject to experience in a similar role. Annual salary increase within this range in accordance with the State Service Award and Public Service Union Wages Agreement.

Working Environment

Tasmania Prison Service (TPS) has prison facilities located at Risdon Vale, Hobart and Launceston in Tasmania.

The position will sit in the Rehabilitation and Reintegration Team and will work within the facility based teams on site at Risdon Vale. Our Integrated Offender Management unit is a multidisciplinary team with staff working collaboratively within the TPS and with external agencies, engaging with professional supervision of services.

The Risdon Vale site offers a corporate working environment without the hustle and bustle of city centre offices, free on-site parking and access to the on-site staff gym (or head across the road to Risdon Brook Dam for a walk at lunch time).

Duties

  • Provide Case Management to prisoners/ detainees who have, committed Family Violence offences, developing comprehensive sentence plans and make referrals and or recommendations in line with individual plans.
  • Co-facilitate the delivery of individual and group–based rehabilitation or intervention programs to Family Violence offenders/detainees.
  • Maintain offender case notes, records and administrative information and prepare formal assessments and other reports in accordance with program standards.
  • Mentor and support other TPS staff in the area of Family Violence Interventions.

Desirable Requirements

  • Relevant tertiary or post-graduate qualifications in a discipline such as social work, psychology or counselling.
  • Current drivers licence.
