About the role We are looking for a Specialist, Underground & Drills” within the Global Mobile Equipment team in procurement. It is a vital role, one that relies on a commitment to safety and sustainability, while remaining attentive to details in logistics, continuous improvement, procurement process and market forces (commercial). An important function of this role is to support the execution of category strategy in a global Underground HME context. The category spend per annum is greater than US$50 million. The role interfaces with a broad range of stakeholders within both Rio Tinto Procurement and other company business units. Reporting to the Category Manager, Mobile Equipment, you will: Provide quality, timely information, advice and support to global business unit stakeholders on the underground HME contracts, relationships and strategies employed. Maintain and facilitate underground HME and surface drilling HME supplier relationships at global and regional levels Lead contract execution on a day-to-day basis . Develop an understanding of global underground HME market and related commercial/ technical markets . Support the development and deployment of the global Underground HME strategy Facilitating information gathering for forecasting as well as supply chain, business risks and suppliers. Lead category value creation initiatives and contribute your ideas and energy to innovate and build capability and knowledge within the category . Identifying and implementing sustainable development improvements in the category (ie: ESG improvement, HME electrification). What you’ll bring To be successfully considered for this role, you will ideally have: A strong commitment to safety 5+ years background in strategic procurement, end-to-end process, contracting and complex commercial evaluations. Tertiary qualifications in business, finance, engineering, or a related discipline. CIPS Certificate or Diploma in Purchasing or Supply is advantageous. Strong engagement and collaboration skills in managing stakeholder relationships Specialized experience in underground and heavy mining equipment in the mining industry is desirable Experience in macroeconomics, innovation implementation and equipment electrification is desirable. An understanding of business process improvement and change management. Project management, problem solving and analytical skills Advanced skills with the Windows environment, including use of the MS Office suite of products and ideally SAP or an equivalent ERP.
