DESCRIPTION:
Position: Specialist in Microbiology and Infectious Diseases Permanent Part-time/ Permanent Full- time Location: Sydney The Microbiologist will provide high quality diagnostic, consultative and on-call specialty services in Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, and will participate in teaching, quality improvement and administrative activities. A wide range of laboratory testing is performed, including general bacteriology, infectious serology, mycology and molecular testing. The Microbiologist will ensure a high standard of professional performance and, where required, the encouragement of an academic environment which supports development of scientific staff. Selection Criteria 1. Currently registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), obtained Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia in Microbiology. 2. Demonstrated commitment to medical education and staff training. 3. Proven ability to work as a team member with effective communication, interpersonal skills and adaptability to work within a multidisciplinary team environment. 4. Demonstrated personal qualities including effective communication skills, motivation, initiative, time management and commitment to professional development. 5. Demonstrated commitment to the principles of clinical quality management, continuous improvement and a contemporary knowledge of National Pathology Accreditation Advisory Council (NPAAC) Standards and NATA accreditation processes. 6. Demonstrated contemporary laboratory knowledge and technical expertise in the specialties of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases.
