Short Sprouts Speech Pathology is in Craigieburn, in the Northern Suburbs of Melbourne.
We are currently recruiting for 3 positions:
- Speech Pathologist (Ref. number SP001).
- Part / Full time Allied Health Assistants (Speech Pathology) (AHA002).
- Receptionist (REC003) – Wednesday to Friday and half day Saturday (2 to 3.5 days per week).
We are looking for:
Speech Pathologist:
- Qualified or students currently studying Speech Pathology for ongoing position working minimum 2 to 3 days per week.
- A highly engaging and confident personality to fit into our team culture.
- Experience treating speech and language disorders in paediatric, school-age, adolescent and adult clients including clients with disability.
- Ability to assess all speech and language disorders using a variety of assessment tools.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Membership with Speech Pathology Australia.
- Current Working with Childrens check, First Aid Certificate, and Victorian Police Check
- Driver’s licence with comprehensive car insurance
Key responsibilities:
- Assessment and management of speech, language, voice, and swallowing difficulties in Pediatrics. and adults with diverse medical backgrounds within both the community and in residential aged care facilities.
- Establishing goals and providing functional intervention to support participants and families to achieve their goals.
- Providing best practice, evidence-based intervention that increases participants life skills and independence.
- Clear and concise ability to record, interpret and report participant progress.
- Work collaboratively with a range of key stakeholders to support participants to achieve their goals.
- Collaborate with pediatric clients and stakeholders to deliver exceptional therapy services.
- Develop individualised strategies and plans to address each client's unique needs.
- Provide a tailored service approach, focusing on the goals and priorities of the client and their family.
- Work collaboratively with families, carers, teachers, and colleagues to tackle challenges.
Requirements:
- Eligibility for Speech Pathology Australia membership
- Professional indemnity insurance
- COVID vaccine certificate, or willingness to obtain.

Allied Health Assistant (Speech Pathology)
- Delivering therapy programs to children, young people, and adults under the supervision of the Speech Pathologist.
- Working across speech, language, and literacy domains for speech programs.
- Prepare resources and materials.
- Write clinic notes for therapy sessions delivered.
- Work with clients receiving services under the NDIS scheme as well as privately funded clients.
- Documenting client activity and give progress feedback to parent/guardian after each session.
- Be responsible for managing an allocated caseload and completing therapy processes in a timely manner.
- Evaluate results of therapy by observing, noting, and evaluating participants progress, and implementing recommended changes.
- Demonstrated experience in the intervention of adult, child and young people rehabilitation, in the areas of speech, language, voice and fluency.
- Demonstrated high level of effective communication in a team including consultation, collaboration and conflict resolution skills
- Computer literacy
Requirements
- Ability to work independently, demonstrated organisation skills, utilise problem-solving skills and time management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Be studying speech pathology at university and be in year 3/4 or second year of your Masters in 2024.
- Be passionate about helping clients and their families to develop capacity to be an active member of the communities.

Receptionist
- Arabic as a second language preferred but not essential
- Reception and Customer Service duties – answering phones, greeting clients, managing arrivals and cancellations.
- Schedule appointments.
- Answer patient enquiries.
- Supporting others with General Administration duties such as responding to queries, forwarding communications to the relevant employees, filing, scanning, data entry and electronic document management.
- Liaising with clients regarding appointment changes, sending out & managing signed agreements for services.
- Notify patients of changes and requirements for each appointment
- Maintaining accurate records of all communication with clients.
- Assisting with the scheduling of appointments and meetings in clinician calendars.
- Assisting new and potential clients through responding to intake requests via phone, email, or social media contacts, gaining an understanding of client needs, gathering relevant paperwork and information, and booking appointments.
- Maintaining general office cleaning and tidiness
- Manage client Billing and Payments
Requirements:

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Windows is required.
