The Alfred Infant, Child and Youth Area Mental Health and Wellbeing Service (ICYAMHWS)
Alfred ICYAMHWS is one component of the Department of Mental & Addiction Health at Alfred Health. We are a community-based service providing comprehensive assessment, treatment and case management to infants, children, adolescents and young people up to the age of 25 years of age presenting with behavioural, emotional, psychiatric or developmental difficulties.
The Neurodevelopmental stream is a 0-25 year service incorporating, the Neuropsychiatry Clinic, Developmental Assessment and Management Program (DAMP) and Mental Health & Intellectual Disability Initiative for Youth (MHIDI-Y) Team. This stream specialises in the overlap between psychiatry, neurology, medicine and disability.
This position sits on the Mental Health and Intellectual Disability Initiative for Youth (MHIDI-Y) team. The MHIDI-Y program addresses a critical service gap by providing a specialist, community-based Mental Health assessment and treatment for young people aged 12 - 26 with an intellectual disability and severe mental illness.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
In this role, you will provide speech pathology assessment and intervention within the MHIDI-Y team and across the ICYAMHWS clinic.
You will work with the multi-disciplinary team to contribute to the developmental assessment and provide case management, consultation and liaison and group work as required.
WHAT YOU’VE GOT
- Tertiary qualification in Speech Pathology (Essential)
- Eligibility for membership of Speech Pathology Australia (Essential)
- A sound knowledge of current Speech Pathology practices relevant to the position and its theoretical base
- Clinical paediatric experience or strong interest in children and / or adolescents presenting with social, emotional, learning and behavioural problems
- Appropriate work visa
- Current Victorian Driver's License
- Current Working with Children Check or willing to obtain one and be willing to undergo a Background Check
