About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Grade 3Speech Pathologist for a 0.6EFT fixed term, part time role based at the Monash Children’s Hospital. This position is based within Monash Children’s Hospital however travel to and work at any Monash Health site will be required.

Monash Children’s Hospital is one of Australia’s leading providers of integrated children’s health services, with more than 30 specialist services and programs. We have Victoria’s largest Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and provide leading paediatric services in many areas including Rehabilitation & Oncology. Speech Pathologists at Monash Children’s Hospital sit within the Monash Children’s Hospital Allied Health Team, providing specialised assessment and management of infants and children within the hospital setting in the areas of communication and swallowing/feeding. Each team within Monash Children’s Hospital Allied Health is led by a Profession Lead who operationally reports to the Monash Children’s Allied Health Manager. As a Grade 3Speech Pathologist within Monash Children’s you will:
- Be responsible for providing highly specialised speech pathology services to infants and children within the acute hospital inpatient and outpatient setting.
- Provide clinical leadership and expertise, lead clinical research and clinical teaching activities to achieve maximal operational effectiveness and create strong partnerships within and outside Monash Health.
- Supervise Speech Pathologists and provide clinical education for students.
- Be part of a dynamic, evidence-based team and will be involved in service development and quality improvement projects in your clinical area to support high quality clinical care.
- Enhance opportunities for teaching and involvement in research as part of your clinical role.
- In addition to providing expert intervention, this role will provide teaching and training to community and regional colleagues to facilitate flow, thus enabling discharge referrals to other services.
About You
To ensure your success in this role you will bring the following demonstrated skills, experience and knowledge:
- Relevant Speech Pathology qualification
- Eligible for membership of Speech Pathology Australia
- Preferably at least 7 years advanced paediatric/ infant experience in an acute setting
- Significant experience in teaching and training
- Experience in service development and quality improvement.
- Demonstrated skills in paediatric cleft and craniofacial caseload (both feeding and communication)
- Experience or interest in paediatric research, management, public health, project management
- Great organisation and ability to work across caseloads
- An ability to form relationships with infants, children and their families in the hospital setting
- Great communication skills with patients, families and other multi-disciplinary team members
