Position Title: Speech Pathologist
Employment Type: Maximum Term Full Time ( Maternity Leave Cover 12 Months)
Hours per week: 38 Hours
Position Grade: Speech Pathologist Level 1 / 2 (Year 1-4)
Salary: $70,944.00 - $101,211.00 base salary per annum
Enterprise Agreement: The Named NSW (Non-Declared) Affiliated Health Organisations' Professional & Associated Staff Agreement 2022

About the role:
We have an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic team leading our approach to the provision of quality care to clients of the Speech Pathology Department. This position is responsible for the speech pathology management of inpatients and outpatients assigned to the role with disorders of communication and/or swallowing.  These patients may include patients from Neurosciences, Rehabilitation, Aged Care, and general medical patients at St Vincent’s Hospital and outpatients referred to the Speech Pathology Department.

The Speech Pathologist in this position works under the professional supervision of the appropriate senior Speech Pathologist and is expected to exercise professional judgement commensurate with his/her years of experience.  He/she is required to exercise independent professional judgement on routine matters within their clinical area.  He/she may require direct professional supervision from the senior Speech Pathologist when performing novel, complex or critical tasks.

They also participate in quality activities and workplace education and may be required to teach and supervise speech pathology students, including those on clinical placements.

About you:
We are seeking a skilled and energetic Speech Pathologist who possess a passion for person centred care. We welcome applications from people who identify as Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander.

Selection Criteria:
1. Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s Health Australia
2. Bachelor or post-graduate degree in Speech Pathology or equivalent and eligibility for full practicing membership of the professional association

3. Post-graduate clinical experience in the management of adult population with speech and swallowing disorders

4. Demonstrated evidence of the ability to exercise independent professional judgement in the assessment and treatment of communication and swallowing disorders in the acute care and rehabilitation setting.

5. Demonstrated evidence of clear, concise written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team.

6. Demonstrated experience in the provision of in-service education to health professionals and supervision of students.

7. Demonstrated experience of participation in quality improvement projects which have led to improvements in clinical practice.

8. Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.
