Job description

About the role

In this role you will deliver high quality, evidence based outpatient speech pathology assessments and interventions and treatment to adult consumers of the mental health service.

Contribute to the advancement of speech pathology services and optimal clinical outcomes, through provision of service development, quality improvement, and clinical education and monitor and report on work practices and outcomes, including initiating, planning, and evaluating relevant quality and research initiatives.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • High level knowledge, expertise and skills in managing an allocated workload to deliver speech pathology clinical services, including assessment, intervention and evaluation within a multidisciplinary team in accordance with established clinical & departmental protocols, policies and procedures, utilising evidence-based practice and ethical standards.
  • Ability to liaise and work effectively in a professional manner with clients and their carers, other health professionals, students, and external agencies to achieve a client centred approach, utilising negotiation, and conflict resolution skills as required.
  • Ability to provide high level general and profession specific clinical advice to clinical leaders, team leaders and other multidisciplinary team members within the service, and to external community-based providers supporting consumer care.
  • Ability to continually develop clinical practice knowledge, skills and expertise through self-directed learning, active learning within a team environment and engaging in professional development activities, including participating in the performance appraisal and development plans.
  • Experience in the identification, development, implementation and evaluation of quality and service improvement and/or research activities that enhance the delivery of speech pathology services.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
  • Possession of a tertiary degree or equivalent in Speech Pathology is mandatory.
  • Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration or membership with the appropriate registration authority or association within Australia. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties.
