The Shire of Capel is located in the South West, halfway between Bunbury and Busselton. We are nestled between the beach and the forest and are one of the fastest growing coastal Shires in Australia. As our Sport & Recreation Officer you will be responsible for working with sporting clubs and community groups to facilitate and enhance sport and recreational activities and programs across the Shire. This includes overseeing our seasonal tenancy process for sporting facilities, coordinating and managing State and grant funded programs including KidSport and Every Club Development, coordinating and promoting our Sports Participation Scheme and assisting with future club facility developments. You will also coordinate the Shire’s Minor Community Grants Scheme. You will utilise your excellent written communication and project management skills to source and manage funding to support initiatives and prepare reports, submissions and other documentation as required.
Your positive attitude, initiative and team focus will see you work collaboratively with the Community Development team to support the delivery of community development initiatives beyond the Sport & Recreation portfolio.

Base annual salary circa $71,000 per annum dependent on skills, experience, and qualifications
Annual leave loading of 17.5%
Up to 14% Shire superannuation contribution

To be considered for this role you will be able to demonstrate:

Relevant degree and/or experience in a similar role
Demonstrated and extensive experience in dealing with a wide range of social and community organisations.
Experience in report writing and grant submissions.
Experience in project management of community-based projects
Strong computer skills in MS Office, internet and email
Current C class drivers’ licence
Working with Children Check
Ability to work flexible hours i.e., occasional weekends or evenings to work with community groups
Moderate level of physical fitness to participate in programs
Experience in marketing and promotions, awareness of Disability Acccess & Inclusion principles and issues and knowledge of local government policies and procedures will be highly regarded.
