The Shire of Wiluna is located in the Mid-West region of Western Australia, about 950 kilometres northeast of Perth. The Shire covers an area of 182,155 square kilometres.
The Shire is predominantly mining and pastoral land with a population of around 742 plus a large proportion in mining villages, which are run mainly on a fly-in fly-out basis.
The Shire of Wiluna offers a range of services to residents including the operation of a local swimming pool and gymnasium, library, a newly constructed Skate Park, aerodrome, Tjukurba Art Gallery and the Canning-Gunbarrel Discovery Centre, emergency planning and recovery, private works, rubbish collection, strategic planning, pet registration, public health and maintenance of a network of approximately 1,970 kilometres of local streets and roads, amongst other things, as well as advocacy on behalf of the district and its community to the other levels of government and their agencies.
We are seeking a Youth and Recreation Officerto join our growing team.
The purpose of the position is to coordinate activities, events, and programs within the community. The role involves organising events for the general public or a particular group including youth or older residents with a view to improve engagement and physical activity in the community or promote a particular sport or youth activity.
The role is responsible for providing critical and targeted support to youth, sporting clubs, associations, and contract partners to support the delivery of high-quality Youth and sport and Recreation opportunities for the Shire of Wiluna.

To be successful you will have a qualification in youth/sport/leisure/recreation or related field, and/or experience in a similar role.
You will possess a demonstrated understanding of youth programs, sporting clubs, recreation and facilities management and community youth, sport, and Recreation trends.

We offer above Award salaries and a very generous location allowance. Accommodation is available rent-free where available and fully furnished if required. In addition to the Superannuation Guarantee, the Shire of Wiluna will make matching superannuation contributions of up to 5% should you choose to contribute 1%, 2%, 3%, 4% or 5% from your own pay. Financial assistance of up to $2,500 towards the cost of study is available plus 2 days each year for exams.
